World Fireworks Championships

The World Fireworks Championships take place in Blackpool between the 8th and 29th September and will feature some of the world’s leading pyrotechnic artists. Teams from SuperPower, representing Poland and Brezac Artifices, representing France will compete with South Africa’s Fireworks for Africa to win the prestigious championship title. The winner will be announced as part of the championships’s big finale, which will feature a display from the UK’s Titanium Fireworks. This free annual event is one of the most popular in Blackpool’s calendar, featuring awe-inspiring displays from some of the most technically gifted fireworks engineers in the world. The pyrotechnic spectacles from across the globe will paint a coastal skyline already ablaze with the bright lights of the Blackpool Illuminations. Firing commences at approximately 8:30pm.

Blackpool Ghost Walks

Coast Town 2017
When: Saturday 16th September

This September, Blackpool’s Winter Gardens will host Coast Town 2017. A one day event celebrating Ska, Mod and Reggae will feature performances from across the UK and Europe. The event will feature Edinburgh’s Urang Matang making their Coast Town bow, as well as debuts from the Skapones and the Manchester Ska Foundation. The year’s line-up also features Bradford-based Ska and Rocksteady band Natural Rhythm and Mod Revivalists The Immediates. There will be something for Bob Marley fans as premier tribute band Bob On take to the stage, while Amy Winehouse tribute Lioness will also be performing following the success of their recent tour of the UK academies. All day and all of the night, Coast Town 2017 will guarantee that this town is [not] coming like a ghost town. 

Hairspray The Musical at the Winter Gardens

You can’t stop the motion of the ocean or the sun the sky this Autumn as the award-winning musical extravaganza Hairspray, featuring music by Marc Shaiman, returns to Blackpool’s Winter Gardens from 18th September to 23rd September as part of a new UK tour. Featuring award-winning comedian Norman Pace in the role of Wilbur Turnblad, Hairspray is a smash hit musical comedy about big hair and even bigger dreams. .
